HSPT: 2500+ Practice Questions Workbook

Best prep book so far!

I used this book with both of my sons (2020 and current year) and have found it to be the most comprehensive, detailed book with tons of practice problems, and two full exams. The details for each section are well done and include great tips. It is slightly more advanced than others, but this is appropriate for solid or advanced students. This is a longer book than a few others I tried for this year, but it is still so much better that it is worth it, even if you don’t get through it all. Compared to the other two books I have purchased so far for this year, this one is so much better that it is even hard to compare. This is a book I strongly suggest, especially after having one son do very well on the exam, and as an educator myself. I have not reviewed some of the other more expensive options but will continue to review if we do. Good luck to all our kids! Cheers to high scores for all of them! Best HSPT Study Guide My Family Has Found

This is the best resource I've found of several we've looked at for my 8th grader's HSPT prep.Pros:- Questions are organized by sub-topic, so your kiddo can do a bunch of the same question types in a row to help figure out the pattern/approach to those types of questions.- 3 full length practice exams in the book, 2 extras available online (for additional cost)- The practice exams seem high quality. I've not found any mistakes.- Online videos for specific topicsCons:- None really other than that the other study materials aren't as high quality, so now that we've exhausted this book I'm struggling to find another. Barron's seems to be second best but is mostly geared toward practice exams versus how this book is broken town with topic specific practice making up about 50% of the questions. Best Test Prep Book for this Test

I'm in a job where I deal a lot with standardized testing. So when my kid had to take this test, I bought several practice books. This one is hands down the best. First, it provides a ton of practice questions for each section. It is unlikely that any test you'll get won't have versions of some of these questions. Second, it provides full length tests. Third -- and most importantly -- the associated website has detailed answers on how to do each problem if you get stuck AND provides links to videos on You Tube and other sites that explain the different math techniques, for example, in case you haven't learned them in school. The only thing I think they could do better is to provide better explanations on techniques in the actual book in case people don't go to the website. This book exceeded my expectations! Not only does it have way more problems than any other book, but the problems are realistic and similar to the official test. It’s clear a lot of time and research went into making this book. I’ve been tutoring the HSPT for years, and this is the first prep book that actually prepares my students for the test.For the verbal, reading, and language sections, the book includes detailed notes explaining each question type and how to approach different questions. The notes are especially helpful for the language section because they explain in detail all of the grammar rules that show up on the test. A lot of students struggle with grammar, so this is extremely useful!For the math and quantitative sections, the book does a great job at covering a wide range of topics. It also provides a free list of videos online and on YouTube that teach students the math concepts covered in the book. Helped my son earned a 50% tuition scholarship to Catholic High School! My son used this test prep book for 30 min to an 1 hr every weekday all summer prior to taking the test in the fall of his 8th grade year. If they put the time in they will see increased scores!
